＜スピーチ内容＞

みなさん、こんにちは。私の名前は白羽由季、17歳です。
この場に立つことができて嬉しいです。
本日は、私が英語を楽しんで学べるようになったきっかけをお話したいと思います。
私が高校一年生の時、ホストシスターとしてオーストラリアから来た女の子を受け入れました。けれど彼女とはあまり話せませんでした。その時はせっかく英語を勉強したのに、なぜ彼女と話せないのか分かりませんでした。1年後に大きな転機が訪れました。
私はアメリカに旅行に行き、現地の女の子にたまたま話しかけられました。
緊張してしまい、最初はどう答えていいのかわかりませんでしたが英語を理解し、スムーズに会話することができました。その子と話せてとても楽しかったです。
その時、1年前の自分との違いに気付きました。その違いは自信を持っているかどうかだったのです。
1年前、私は英語を話すことを怖がっていました。英語でのコミュニケーションが必要な時はいつも自分の姉に任せていました。でも、アメリカでの女の子との出会いのおかげで、私は考え方を変えました。
私はただ英語を話すことが怖くて、自信がなかっただけだったのです。
この出会いから自信をもらい、もっと英語をたくさん使い、英語がうまくなりたいと思うようになりました。そして、DWEを卒業することに決めました。
それから1年後、再びホストシスターとしてオーストラリアから女の子を受け入れることになりました。私はその子とたくさん話し、彼女は私の英語の発音もほめてくれました。これらの経験から、私は英語だけでなく自分自身を成長させることができたと感じています。
そして、自信もつきました。英語が大好きになり、大学でも英語を学びたいと思っています。
最後になりますが、おじいちゃんおばあちゃん、ワールド･ファミリー･クラブに入るチャンスをくれてありがとう。
お母さん、イベントに何度も連れて行ってくれたり、DWEのCDをかけてくれてありがとう。
何回も英語で私と話してくれた先生方、DWEにも感謝しています。今の私があるのは、家族とDWEのおかげです。

Hello, everyone. My name is Yuki Shiraha and I'm 17 years old. I'm so glad to be here today.
Today, I'll tell you my important turning point to study and enjoy speaking English in my life.
When I was in the tenth grade I accepted the girl from Australia as a host sister. But I couldn't talk with her so much. At that time I didn't know why I couldn't talk with her actively though I studied English. One year later my important turning point came. I traveled to the US and I was spoken to the girl by chance. I was nervous and didn't know what I should say first, but I could make myself understood and talk smoothly in English. I felt happy and fun to talk with her. Then I found the difference between what I was a year ago and what I was is whether I had a confidence. A year ago, I was afraid and nervous speaking English. Also I always depended on my sister to communicate in English. However, after I met the girl in the US, I changed my mind. I realized that I was just afraid and didn't have a confidence.
The girl I met gave me confidence and I thought I wanted to use English more and improve it, so I decided to graduate from DWE by myself. One year later after that turning point I accepted another girl from Australia as a host sister. I could talk with her actively and she praised me for my English. Through these experiences, I felt I could grow up not only developing my English but also developing myself. And I gained a confidence. Now I love English and want to study it at university too.
Finally I'd like to thank my grandparents for giving me chance to join DWE(WF Club). I also would like to do my mother for taking me to many events and turning on the DWE's CD. And DWE and its teachers for talking in English with me many times. DWE and my family made me what I am.
